Student chapters are the Heart of Ministry
One of the main goals of TCMDA is to help students connect with other Christians as they prepare for careers in medicine, dentistry, and allied health. Whether you’re looking for friendship, encouragement, discipleship, or mentoring, we want you to know you don’t have to navigate school alone.
We currently have a variety of student-led groups at UNC, Campbell, and Duke. Our groups focus on fellowship and community, Bible study, prayer, and discipleship. We also help connect students with faculty members and healthcare professionals for encouragement, guidance, and mentoring relationships.
Don’t see a group in your discipline yet? We’d love to help you start one. TCMDA can provide support with communication, resources, leadership encouragement — and yes, even pizza. Because healthcare programs naturally experience turnover each year with rotations, clinicals, and graduations, we are always excited to encourage and equip new student leaders.
And if starting a new group isn’t your thing, that’s okay too. Many students enjoy joining groups across different healthcare disciplines to build friendships and community with other believers.
Most groups meet weekly or every other week during lunch, or in the evening, making it easy to stay connected even during a busy season of school.
Beyond campus groups, we also host monthly evening gatherings, offer local and international mission opportunities, and are here to support you however we can throughout your training and career journey. Be sure to join our area newsletter list to keep up on regional events.
Our current groups are
Duke: Med, PA and DPT
UNC: Med, Pharma, Dental, Undergrad
Campbell: Med, PA

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Triangle CMDA support Students?
We are always here for you
TCMDA has been around for almost 40 years, serving students and practitioners on campus, in the clinics, and in the community. We specifically support students by organizing and facilitating discipline- specific chapters that help you build friendships and have a place to openly talk about your faith. More importantly, we explore the ethical and practical issues found at the intersection of healthcare and Christianity.
We also work to connect you with Christian mentors in your field so you can explore opportunities and understand a lifetime of faithful medicine.
In addition, our Area Director and Ministry Assistant provide pastoral care when someone is in crisis and needs a Godly voice outside their program. We help students in many ways by offering guidance, prayer, encouragement, and more. We even have ministries for the spouses of students to support them during this time and beyond.
